Music Ideology
Music and Lifestyle: There is more to music than just sound, it is also about lifestyle, and it means so much more to people than is sometimes thought. It effects every aspect of life, ranging from aesthetic things like dress and make up sense; to psychological things like thought processes and resulting actions. These lifestyle choices are usually formed from the influence artists and their musical aura have on people. Music has the ability to evoke powerful emotions, which can change situations and people's state of mind. This makes music very powerful, and automatically gives the artists hugely increased statuses, sometimes God-like, in the eyes of the people who rely on their music.

There are stereotypes associated with genre of music. Here are a few of the main genres and examples of their style, and the influence they have over fans:

Rock

Emo

Metal

Punk

Evolution of Music Genres
The evolution of music genres has been linked with various art forms. Each concept and style can be linked to others. These are the stages of genre creation:

Prototype - These include seminal music texts. Prototype genres define flexible convention for later more defined version of the genres. A good example is proto-Punk, which was a very early version of punk, which turned into Punk.

Classic - These include stereotypical musical texts, which are perfect example of genre convention.

Revisionist - Revising/Rewriting of convention, to fit a commercial agenda or because the convention become boring to people following.

Parodic - Parodes of a test.

Hybrid - Combining genres to create a new genre.

Post-modern approach - Bridges - Combining old elements to form new things.

Homage - a deliberate tribute to someone or something from the past
